Default Easter Sunday Dinner?

It's coming up pretty sooner than I can imagine and I can't figure out what to do for easter. The tradition has been to get a spiral cut ham from the Honey Baked Ham company. But I checked at one of their stores and it's 3-4 carbs per serving which is like a slice..(yea right).

I then started looking at other hams and they all seem to be that way. Even ham steaks.

Are these carbs from the glaze on the outside, or is it from the curing process? In other words, can I cut the outside inch off and not get those carbs?

If I can't, then I'll make a prime rib roast or something. But I would certainly like to keep with tradition.

What's on the menu for all of you for Easter?

Mike

Ask your butcher if they have a FRESH ham. They are not cured but our yummy. Also, look more for a smoked ham rather then honey baked. That may help. I for one, like turkey better anyday.

Good luck

Cool

Cindy,

I suspect that HBHC injects their meat with a sugar/flavoring solution. So, cutting the sugar from the outside would not likely help. The prime rib sounds like the best idea.

Have a great Easter!

Ham contains sugar.. not only on the outside but inside as well...I find if I eat ham my whole program is off kilter....not to mention I feel like I'm starved after...I wouldn't chance it Mike.. Have the prime rib instead...
