Question Clear pee... Yellow Pee?

Alright... my first bodily-fluids questions.

When i was eating low-fat, i would drink a LOT of water, pee all the time, and it was always clear (except for first thing in the morning).

Now, eating low-CARB, i drink a LOT of water (100-200+ oz), and I pee all the time still... but my pee is yellow... not clear...

Why is this? Does the yellow = Ketones? My ketostix are only coming out medium-pink...

Thanks!
~D

I'm pretty sure it should still be clear. At least I know mine is . COuld be your supplements...alot of vitamins can color your urine.

my supplements turn my pee bright green, yes green. Pretty embarassing when you step up to the trough in a stadium bathroom, but I guess you ladies don't have THAT problem.

A couple of questions with regards to your "clear" pee.

1. Were you previously on any medications natural or otherwise? Sometimes when one is on a med with a diuretic effect it can cause the urine to pass out of the kidneys in a less concentrated form

2. Are you diabetic (T1 or T2)? If your blood sugars are out of whack (ie. very high) it can effect your functions. When my sugars were high it often increased the frequency of my urination and the colour. Since I've started this WOL my sugars have stabalized and things are much better.

Hi Nursedude,

I haven't been on any meds... I don't think I'm diabetic. I did have real blood sugar issues before I started this WOE 5 weeks ago... Very bad spikes whenever I ate sugar. My doctor encouraged me to continue with Atkins b/c she feels I was on the road to diabetes... Dunno if that helps at all...

I noticed a color change after starting supplements - bright canary yellow. (But, thank goodness, not green!) Better yet, I also noticed, after downing some mega vitamin C doses - for either the flu or withdrawal during induction; it felt the same - that my urine had a distinct odor.
Not a bad as asparagus pee, but close...
I'd still check with your doc if you're worried. Better safe than sorry.

When I'm in Ketosis, my urine is a bright yellow...kind of like the color of the smiley faces. If I check my urine when it's this color, I am in Ketosis. When it's clear, I'm not. My Dr. said that some people have this issue, others do not. Not to worry, assuming you are drinking enough water.
