Talking The Best of Intentions (funny story)

I had the funniest thing happen to me this morning...

My boyfriend is not on a low-carb diet, but is extremely supportive of my choice to do so. Unfortunately, we don't get a whole lot of time together because he works graveyard and I work full time and go to school full time, for which I have to get up at 5 AM and I'm often gone until 7 to 9 PM.

Well, this morning he was a total sweetheart and brought me breakfast in bed - an egg scramble and some of my flaxmeal hot cereal that he had asked me for the recipe two days ago. I was about to take a bite when I remembered that it was Friday and, therefore, my weigh-in day and I didn't want to go in with anything on my stomach (you all know the drill). So I figured I would take the food to work for breakfast after my meeting with Mr. Scale.

Well, it turns out that first of all, he had used about four times the whey protein I normally use, in addition to a package of Splenda and some DaVinci's Syrup. But I figured I could look past that - it was awfully sweet of him to make me breakfast, even if it was sweeter than I liked. However, as I was putting the cereal into a plastic container for transportation and storage, I noticed that the texture was just really....odd.

And this is where my lack of labeling things in the cupboards comes in to haunt me (I know what they are, so why label?). As he was telling me how he had measured everything and even levelled it off with a knife so as to get *exact* amounts, I gently asked him how much of the bran did he put in. He picks up a bag from the cupboard and says, "I put in two scoops of this."

It turns out that my flaxmeal cereal had been made with flaxmeal, a LOT of designer whey and two level tabelspoons of PORK RIND CRUMBS.

Anyone else have a similar story?

That was very sweet and brave of him! I do not even think my husband would ever attempt making an LC concoction for me (other than eggs and bacon). Good luck on your LC journey!!!
