Question Keto breath.......again

Sorry to ask about a subject that I know comes up time and time again (too lazy to keep looking for an answer to my question though....lol)

I know all about keto-breath and why it occurs - my question is: is it inevitable? If I am in ketosis, will I positively have bad breath? I work with the public, and I am horrified at the thought of people saying "sweet girl - shame about the breath"! (not horrified enough to distract me from my goal, mind you )

Can anything be done, besides an endless supply of breath mints? Also, how long does it take to get rid of keto-breath? I have a romantic weekend planned next month, and I absolutely CANNOT go to it with bad breath.

Love Atkins, but not a big fan of bad breath

Its Oil of Oregano...you can take capsules instead of drops so you don't have to taste it... it has helped some to lose weight faster and if you have trouble with yeast infections then it helps that as well.

Ok, i just have to insert my .02 I've been reading a lot about the negative side of ketohalitosis. My nose must not be sensitive to that particular aroma. I've always perceived ketones to smell aromatic, somewhat sweetish, reminiscent of acetone (the active ingredient in nail polish remover), to which they are chemically related. Don't get me wrong. . . I have smelled some atrocious breath in my time, but definitely not the aromatic aroma of ketones. I believe the phenomena does exist, but I think it's more a product of the body being in the state of ketosis, and not the aroma of the ketone bodies themselves. For the record, according to my wife who has an excellent smeller, I never got the stinky sulphuric fire-breathing dragon breath.

xxxxomnixxxx - thanks! you really made me feel better, as I thought I may be destined to a bad breath existence on Atkins.

BTW - yesterday, I thought my mouth tasted a bit yukky and I was excited!!

I'm in deep ketosis and haven't knocked anyone over yet. I think I'm one of the weirdos that doesn't get keto breath. I'm counting my blessings. I also drink lots of water.

Hiya, i was suffering with keto breath for a while when I first started out and man was I PARANOID!!! I kept talking to people with my hand over my mouth!! They must have been thinking strange girl!
I take the oil of oregano to - and it has stopped the breath problem. You won't awlays get it with atkins - but it is common. The other thing that I do now that I didn't use to is make sure I floss every day and also use a medicated mouth wash once a day.
I am a much pleasenter person to know now!!
