Default Losing in areas I didnt measure?

I thought this was a little odd because it doesnt seem to be the "norm" from what Ive read on the boards- my measurements arent showing much loss, but my weight does. (?) Im a little perplexed by this. Any one else have this happen?

My initial weight loss in induction showed up on the scales and on the measurements. I weigh every morning, but only "count" (record) the weight once a week, on Sunday. While the scales have been showing a pretty steady loss of about 1 lb a week, for 4 weeks my measurements havent changed much. I measure bust, waist, widest part of hips, thighs and upper arm.

One thing I have noticed though (by looking in the mirror) is that I used to have a "double hip roll." It seems the roll on top of the hips is gone! However, I didnt measure that far up on my hips (only the largest circumfrence which included the biggest part of my butt). Could it be that I am just losing "fat" in areas I havent measured?

Just thoguht this was a little odd..

Yep, you could definately be losing inches in places you never dreamed of measuring. I also have a tendancy to measure in slightly different places for my hips, etc and/or pull the tape too tight, or hold it too loose one time - so my measurements are always a bit off too - it is the main reason I try not to measure too often, and just go by how I feel and how my clothes fit.

You haven't mentioned whether you exercise or not.

It's an interesting phenomena that occurs when you combine LCing and exercise. Not only will you lose weight, you will firm up. Increasing LBM (Lean Body Mass) will help you burn more calories and you'll be able to eat more and still lose weight. All of this is good news that will lead you to being in a lot better shape at a higher weight that you would be without exercise.

Congratuations on your success. I wish you continued LC success.

Hi, Marlaine,

My excercise still hasnt gotten off as well as I would like. Im averaging only about 2 half hour walks a week and some "toning" excercises. But it hasnt been consistant. To be honest, Im feeling really tired and can barely keep my eyes open, much less work out.

My calories vary from 1800 - 2500 depending on my appetite (still not too low for me I think) and Im eating all my carbs (between 20-25) so I dont think Im depriving myself of food.

I did get a recommendation that I should be taking multi vitamins, which I do (or did until I ran out about 4 weeks ago). I need to get a refil and am thinking this time of adding Chromium Picolinate as well. Im hoping that will give me an energy surge back.

Since my last post, Ive lost another 1.5 lbs, but the tape measure hasnt budged. I dont know where the weight is coming off from. Hopefully that wiht some vitamins my energy will return and I can do more exercising...THEN I can make the tape measure move on my butt! : )

Thanks for your post

Insulin tends to make women put on fat in the abdominal area so I bet that IS where it is going away from. You know, the belly or apron below the waist in front or rolls around the lower ribs. You could also be losing in a very thin layer all over your body. Have your rings or watch gotten looser yet? That was something that surprised me.

You may also be losing fat but those little fat cells get anxious and try to grab all the water they can to 'plump' themselves up again. They try to stay the same size but get a bit smaller. In a person who stays with LC, there comes a day when the fat cells give up and let go of a bunch of water from each cell. This is the famous "whoosh" or sudden loss of quite a few pounds, seemingly overnight.

Tofi - you could be right. My abdoment was the first thing to shrink so I had assumed it was all water puffiness. But, I hadnt contributed it to fat...and that is an area that keeps shrinking.

Now why hadnt I thought of that?!
