Default Cream vs. whipped cream

Hi all, I want to try out the Alfredo sauce recipe from this site and am wondering if whipped cream is the same/will subsitute for the 'cream' listed in the recipe.

As far as I know they are the same.

Hi Rikke,

If you mean whipped cream from a can, no, they are not the same.

The cream referred to in recipes means heavy or whipping cream - the sort you whip yourself to make your own whipped cream.

Thank ladies! I used the whipping cream (from a carton - that you whip yourself,) and it worked beautifully. Now I know!
