Sorry you had a bad experience .. but glad you posted. A lot of people promote fructose as being "safe" for diabetics because it doesn't require insulin in order to be taken up by the cells. But as you pointed out .. it is still a sugar carb and it will throw you out of ketosis. The other danger with fructose is that because it doesn't need insulin, it can actually cause problems with GLUCOSE and insulin, leading to insulin resistance. And fructose is readily converted to triglycerides in the liver, leading to worse problems with heart and blood vessel disease than glucose sugar ever could.
Fructose is one of the main reasons why fruit and fruit juice aren't encouraged on any truly low-carb diet. Granted, whole fruits have fiber and pectin which slows the absorption of fructose ... but it's best to limit your intake of fruits, and avoid sweet fruits like bananas and raisins entirely.
