Post Omelettes at IHOP...

For those of you who have IHOPs (International House of Pancakes) in your area...

...it is worth noting that the omelettes at IHOP are so large and satisfying because they add pancake batter to the ingredients. Therefore the omelette that you might think is AOK for this WOE is being made with white flour as one of its ingredients.

I'm posting this because I noticed in a post that someone mentioned the omelettes at IHOP as being a good choice for us. I recalled having read something about the pankcake batter in the mix somewhere recently and I emailed IHOP today with my inquiry. They confirmed that this is the case.

If I've posted something that has been exhaustedly discussed in the past, I apologize. Otherwise, it might be a good idea to try one of the other items on the IHOP menu.

Happy eating (and losing)!

Donald

Default Doh!

Thanks Donald!

I don't go there often but have always gotten the mexican omelette thinking I was being so good. Man. Guess that just leaves bacon and eggs, hmm?

Thanks for the tip!

What a helpful discovery! Makes you wonder what other eating establishments doctor up items without the general public knowing about it. Thanks for the info.

Exclamation Those bastards!

Is nothing sacred?

You would think it impossible to bugger up an omlette. Do they fry them in apple pie filling too?

Thanks, Donald!

Unhappy oh,

I loved those omlettes. Did they say how many grams carb are in them?

Post Dunno how many carbs at IHOP...

I don't know how many carbs are in the omelettes at IHOP...

...the note I received was from the Director of Public Relations and he only confirmed that they use pancake batter (made with white flour) in their omelettes.

IHOP has a website though, and you'll finmd an easy link for questions regarding ingredients.

Sorry to be the one to deliver the news...

Default Great info

IHOP is one of my favorite places and I have one right here in my own neighborhood. I have had thier ham&cheese omlettes and found that the also put a little hash brown potatoes in some of thier omelettes.

This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while.

I've only had the IHOP omelette once, and immediately knew "something" was off -- eggs do not have that texture normally. I thought maybe they just fluffed them up with milk.

I've found out that the longer I do this, I can usually tell in the first bite if something is wrong. Is anyone else like this? I made the waiter check the bleu cheese dressing at a restaurant a few weeks ago because it "felt" like it had sugar if that makes any sense. Sure enough, it had corn syrup listed and was like 8g carbs per serving.

I've gotten to where I just about don' t trust any restaurants. Even if they don't know it, they are often messing you up. Did you know even meat tenderizer has sugar in it?! Almost everyone puts this on steaks even if you ask for no seasonings.

Angry

I emailed IHOP to try to get some carb content info. They wrote back saying they don't keep nutritional information on their foods.

...why wouldn't they want to do that???

The hashbrown thing scares me. I love their omlettes, but not a good risk for someone with a severe potato allergy.

...and I never would have known if it weren't for this site!

Angry IHOP

I have eaten at IHOP twice in the last couple of months. I had no idea that they added something to their omlets.

I wonder if they would just make us an omlet without the added batter if we requested it? I would sure like to hear back from one of you folks if you go there and try it as I would like to be able to have an IHOP omlet on occasion.

I have learned that I CAN request what I need in restaraunts. I DON'T care if they think I am silly...... It's my body and I have to live in it!

so there.

This is an old thread but I just ate at IHOP this morning and regretfully noticed this. I had heard of it, but didn't remember until I'd already dug into my "eggs". I ate around a lot of it, eating the veggies and such, but ew. I didn't like the weird texture anyway. Pancake batter in eggs?! Yick.

Bumping so others get this tip!

thanks for posting this - I don't get to eat at IHOP often but I also thought it was a great choice!! That stinks. I just don't understand why all the restaraunts/fast food places don't have a low carb choice on their menus and advertise it as that. There are sooooo many LC's anymore that you would think it would be a BIG hit!! They have low fat stuff so why not LC stuff? I have a hard time going out to eat anywhere because I don't feel I am diciplined enough to take the bun off or something like that. Maybe after I have gotten close to goal.

Unhappy Darn!

Well, I guess I will add the omlettes to the list of chocolate chip pancakes that I can't eat there. Oh well.
