Default ChocoPerfection Bars

http://carbsmart.com/choco.html

ChocoPerfection 1.8 oz. Sugar Free Chocolate Bars - No Maltitol

twelve thumbs up for the dark chocolate.

They carry these at my local health food store. Though they are less expensive to order by the case from netrition.

I haven't tried the milk chocolate. But the dark chocolate is really good IMHO.
It doesn't taste like fake chocolate or have a wierd after taste.
The bar is 2 carbs for the whole thing. Not bad, since one square is way more than enough to save me and give me a treat.

I"ve had these before.. and agree the dark chocolate is much more "real" tasting!

They're also sweetened with oligofructose, which is not a sugar alcohol and only has fiber carbs.

Once I'm ready to introduce sweets back into my food choices, I'll be getting the sweetener "Sweet Perfection" by the same people that make the bars - should be interesting!

I never liked the bars. I hated the milk and the dark wasnt much better. I am in the minority here but I taste a distinct cooling effect from the erythritol and it has a slight aftertaste. Fortunately I have enough eat well be well bars to last another 2 years at least. Or until someone makes more. I do buy these bars once in a while but only to feed my boyfriend so he wont munch on my precious eat well be well bars lol.

Eat well be well bars were great tasting chocolate bars that were sweetened only with splenda. No sugar alcohols at all. They were sooo good. Unfortunately the company went out of business a few months ago (maybe a bit longer than that) and lovers of these chocolate bars scrambled to stock up on them.

I think they are good too, definitely worth trying if you need a chocolate fix.

They are counting Erythritol as a fiber while it's actually a sugar alcohol.

Erythritol has been shown to pretty much pass right through your system. It has 0.02 calories per gram. While it is technically considered a sugar alcohol I beleive they are considering it to work like fiber because it passes through unabsorbed like fiber.

No other sugar alcohols do that the way erythritol does. Most people who do not eat or count all sugar alcohols consider erythritol to be an exception. I believe it may also have a probiotic effect but I am not sure on that one. It might be something else I am thinking of.

Inulin is also a sugar alcohol but most food labels show that it's a fiber. There is no government regulation which forces listing them accurately. To the FDA both fibers and sugar alcohols must be counted as carbohydrates.
