Default Glycerine - - Good, Bad or Indifferent?

I've noticed that "glycerine" is an ingredient in some herbal supplements that come in liquid form. Is glycerine a bad thing for people who are low carbing? If so, why?

Other liquid supplements have an alcohol base. Is alcohol better or worse than glycerine?

Hi Isolde,

I guess I'd say "indifferent."

Glycerine is also known as "glycerol." It is one of the sugar alcohols.

If you have a look at "Low Carb Tips" on the orange bar at the top of your screen, there is a good article there, written by Doreen T, which will give you some good info on the sugar alcohols.

Cheers, matey, HTH.

I think that the title of your question is also the answer. The amount that is in a supplement pill is probably negligible or effectively nothing. But in the bars where there may be 17 grams of the stuff, some people will breeze through and keep losing, others will stall and cease to lose until the bars go. You have to try and see what happens with you. It seems there is no hard and fast rule.
