Default clothing sizes?

Hi friends, I'm wondering if you would kindly share approximately what weight you were when you switched to lower sizes of clothing? Obviously height and build make a difference, but it would be interesting to see. I am so looking forward to getting into smaller sizes!

I'm 5'8", medium build.

Obviously, build must have a lot to do with it since I'm 5'8.5" -275# and I'm wearing a size 22/24 pants and 16/18 top. I started out at size 30/32 pants (tight) and 26/28 tops (stretchy).

I've also found that how you like to wear your clothes and the types of clothes you wear makes a difference in what size you 'are' too. A lot of large people I know seem to prefer baggier clothes, but I've never been one of them, even at my heaviest. I don't wear them skin tight, but I prefer my stuff fitted as opposed to loose.

I started out at 275 and was wearing 26/28 jeans and 3x tops.

Now..26 pounds lighter I can fit into 22's ok but I would say I am a 24 comfortably and all of my old 2x (XXL) shirts fit fine. I have noticed in the past that it takes about 25 pounds for me to go down 2 really good sizes in pants...seems about right.

I am 5'5 and of medium-small build.

When I started I was like 275-280, and a size 24 was too tight so I guess I was like a 26 or more.

Now I am 186, I wear a size 16 but I can squeeze into 14s.

I'm about 255-260 right now and still in the size 26 pants though I was popping out of them at 286. I can comfortably wear 2X (size 24ish) tops and some 1X (size 22) ones will fit me and look OK if they're generously cut across the belly. I'm 5'2" and light boned, so I'm carrying a lot of body fat around - most of which seems to be sagging off my middle, though the upper arms and thighs have their share. I'm large busted too - 46/48C - and I have broad shoulders which helps balance out my lower abdominal area, and so people are always shocked when they find out what I really weigh. I'd say 90% of the time if something doesn't fit it's in that belly/hip area. What makes me crazy is that the plus sizes - even in petite lengths - have legs and wrist cuffs that are ridiculously too big for me. My lower arms and legs are not all that big. When I buy tee shirts for around the house I usually get them in the men's department because they last longer and are heavier in material (not the packaged ones - the separate kind) and they're longer in the torso. I wear a man's XL shirt most of the time now, but have a drawer full of XXL's that I will be donating shortly, when I can afford to clothes shop again.

I'd say the 25lb loss to go down a size is just about right on for me too. At least that's the way it was in the past. The weight is coming off differently with LC eating, and so my overall clothing sizes aren't dropping quite as rapidly though I am noticing really significant changes in a few key areas. I figure it's because I'm not losing muscle along with the fat - which is fine with me!

Just recently squeezed into several pairs of 16s but they are still tight!! Can't wait to make it to the 12s....

I'm 5'9" and large-boned (my finger and thumb can't meet around my wrist, which I read somewhere means you are large-boned, and I have size 11 feet). I usually wear a 22 in pants and skirts, but I recently bought a couple of things in size 20. It seems to depend upon the brand and how the clothes are cut -- if they run large I am a size 20. I am wearing a 1X or even a misses XL in most of my tops, although a few of them are 2X (again it seems to depend upon the brand and how they are cut).

I started out wearing a size 28 or 30 (4X). Last winter, I wore size 26 pants until I went below 300 pounds. Somewhere in the 290s I switched into size 24s. I recently tried on a pair of size 26 pants from last winter and they were huge on me -- no way I can wear them anymore.

I am 5'3 and medium boned. When I started Atkins, I was 280 lbs and wore a tight 28 pants and a 3X in shirts. Now I am 224 lbs and a size 24 pants now fit loose, and I'm in 2X shirts. My bra size was 48DD/50DD depending on the bra when I started, and now I fit into a snug 44DD. (dang cup size won't go down yet. LOL)

Thanks everyone for posting. This gives me so much motivation! Based on your input, I'm thinking I will be able to fit into those old size 24 jeans around 260 or so. I think 24s are the lowest size I have, so when it comes time for size 22s, I'll be out shopping.

This thread confirms that people are all so very different. Zora, you seem to be the closest to me here. I'm 5'0 and large-boned. Trust me, that is a bad combination! I have wide shoulders, wide feet, etc. In addition I am large breasted (D or DD) after two kids (I breast fed them for a total of about 3 years, that may be a factor). At my top weight I was starting to wear 26's. Now at 218 I am in 22's, but they are not loose, especially around the waist, which is definitely my problem area. In tops I have gone from 3x to 2x. For many years I weighed around 210 and wore 22 pants and 2x tops. My body shape has changed since I was last below 200 (more of my weight is in my belly) so I'm not sure what to expect as I go down.

I never really minded being short until recently. Now it seems I can never each anything and no clothes look good on me, plus with my wide feet I can't wear a significant heel.

Whine whine.

Hi, when I started at 260 I was wearing 20W and 2x clothes, around 230 I was wearing 18W and 1x. I am 5'6" and I think between medium and large boned. At 212, I wore 16W, regular 18 and XL tops. About a week ago I bought size 16 pants (200). What a journey, but a great one to be on.

I am 5'8" and have fairly big bones.....
I started out at 357 – wearing 3x tops and size 26 pants….
Am now 305 and wearing size 22 pants and 2x shirts.

I guess that means a size every 25-30 pounds, BUT, I am wearing a pair of pants today that say 22-24 and they are practically falling off of me, VERY uncomfortable. LOL
