Default Resistance exercises

I have read that when eating LC, the best exercise is resistance training. I also have osteopenia so need to be doing weight-bearing exercises as well.
My question is this: I hate curcuit training, step aerobics, running, etc. The only exercise regime I have been able to stick with is water aerobics. I attend a one hour class twice a week. We do a lot of cardio exercises in a warm water pool (chest deep) and also use stretch bands and water weights.Lots of ab. work, arms and legs.
Would this be considered resistance training? Would love to hear from anyone with info. or anyone who has had luck with this type of exercise.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news ... but, you are on the right track with the aerobics. Resistance training can be manything, but it's commonly thought of as weight training .. as in lifting weights or using machines in a gym. Don't get discouraged though, because resistance training along with a low carb diet will spare your muscles (keeping your shape) while losing fat. With no resistance training and only diet, you'll lose some muscle mass along with the fat. Thats just the way it happens. I would recommend you keep up the excercise ... hell .. you begin to feel better after you get used to the routine.

Yes, the stretch bands and water weights DO give you resistance, and therefor if you incoperate these into your water arobics you ARE getting "resistance training".

I'm not sure how much weight-bearing benefit you are getting from your water workouts - since these are often designed to take advantage of the bouyant effect of water to reduce weight bearing on bad joints, etc.
