Default Illness causes cravings?

I've been on Atkins for the past 2 1/2 months, so far doing well, no cheating and almost no cravings. Then, this weekend, I caught a cold. Fever, congestion, the works. At first I didn't want to eat anything, so I just tried to keep hydrated. Then when the fever broke I started getting serious cravings: Apple Pie, Macaroni & Cheese. Ice cream. Comfort food.

luckily I didn't give in to any of these cravings but it was really unnerving. I allowed myself a few slices of low carb bread with cream cheese, that seemed to help.

Today the cold is almost gone, and I think the cravings are under control.

Anyone else have this experience?

The fever most likely consumed the glucose from you liver stores. The carb cravings may be your bodies attemp to replace them. Once this is done, the carb craving should go away.

Don't discount also the possibility that they are psychological cravings in part, as well. Those things that always made you feel better from childhood on up, when you were sick. Served to you by a loving carer, they become powerful love and comfort foods when you need extra love and comforting.
