Question Just started and have questions please

Hi everyone! I just started yesterday, Monday, on the Schwarzbein Principle. I am a little confused. I read the book but am uncertain if I should be counting the carbs in salad dressings (Kraft regular Caesar dressing). Can I have sugar free jello? This is a staple in our house because my 7 year old daughter is a diabetic. For supper tonight, I had a bowl of chili and caesar salad - is there any carbs in the chili?? I am just not certain how to count the carbs on some of this stuff. I am accustomed to counting carbs with my daughter being diabetic but this seems a little different. Is the ground beef in the chili enough for a protein and what about the fat??? Help!!

Smile hello

I think you should try to go to fitday.com,i think it helps when it comes to counting the carbs.
I use to think i was doing fine and couldn`t understand why my weight didn`t drop, when i checked with fitday.com i was having too many carbs,
I hope this helps you to control your carbs and what you eat.
Good luck

Fatima

Default Some answers...

1. Salad dressing - just don't use the light stuff! Most salad dressing is pretty low carb, but if you buy low-fat salad dressing the company usually replaces fat with sugar and it becomes pretty carby.

2.Chili - if it is a chili made with kidney beans (or any beans for that matter) then it will be pretty high carb...those beans are a good source protein but they are high carb too.

3. Ground beef is an excellent source of protein -- and don't worry about the fat...its your friend! Fat helps keep you feeling satisfied after a meal and fat doesn't make you fat!!!

Hope this helps!

Lisa

Unhappy

Thanks so much ladies - I didn't think too much about the Chili and had a heaping, I mean heaping, bowl of it. I had a caesar salad without croutons and didn't have any bread so maybe I am not too much over. Silly question - how do I get the message icons???
