Default Exercise question???

I have been on Atkins since May 15, 2003 and have lost 50 lbs. without any exercise whatsoever. BUT I decided that I needed to firm up and get in some good cardio...so i started walking on a treadmill. I feel good BUT my scale with not budge..in fact it had gone up..and I have been following my carbs very carefully. Has anyone had this problem?

a couple of facts:
- it takes 3500 calories to burn one lb of fat
- when you work out you retain a bit more water

So, working out will help you feel better, up your metabolism so you would lose more weight in the long run. In order to see results daily, you need to be in very good shape to be able to burn 800 calories in a workout session.. now, if you want to "tone up" you will need to do exercise with weights or machines to give your muscles some resistance...

Please check my post "is this crazy?"....In spite of my post expressing some frustration:

Exercise is very important. In the short run, it often causes water retention, and, in my opinion, the scale can move slower due to your body holding onto, and building, muscle mass. In the long run, you will be thinner, healthier, and lighter. No doubt.
