Question Quick question about BFL and LC...

My question is if you are following LC, and incorporating bfl guidelines (albeit loosely, since the two don't mix) aren't you essentially doing a CKD? I have tried LC with my weight training and let me tell you, it sucked. My strength kept dropping, and I was following a HIT weight lifting program. Doesn't using the free day to carb up basically make it CKD? I personally haven't tried Bill Phillips weight training routine, but am using his cardio and it just absolutely wipes me out.

Gonz, most of us doing BFL w/ LC nutrition use the free day as a purely LC day, I know I do. It's a day when I do not have to eat 6 meals and I do not have to eat all my protein. I tend to eat less and higher fat, not higher carbs.

How many carbs are you eating? I've managed BFL with 40-60 Effective grams of carbs and I've done it with 70-90g w/o 'bonking out' or feeling tired/weak.

My understanding of a CKD is that your carbs are very low (<30g) for five days wherein you deplete your glycogen stores followed by 36-48 hours of carbing up. Not quite the same as what we are doing. If you'd like to try a CKD or just get more info, hop over to the CKD forum - Fern or Dan can answer any of your questions.
