Question Question about the infamous WHOOSH!

Ok, maybe I haven't been checking around to much on the board, and being somewhat nieve, but what exactly is this Whoosh and how can you tell when you are going to have one?

I know, silly question isn't it? I think I have an idea, but would like to be a bit more clear about it..

Here is how I take it.

A whoosh is just as it sounds. Say you are on this way of life and following the guidelines closely, it has been a couple of weeks or a stall, and your scale won't budge, then one day you wake up, get on the scale and WHOOSH 5lbs gone. Did I leave your head spinning?

From what I have heard, whooshes are pleasant surprises. But unless you want to set yourself up for losts of disappointments, don't be expecting them on a regular basis. Be happy with every half pound or one pound gone. They add up over time. Slow and steady is what your body will settle in to after the first couple of weeks of initial adjustment and water loss.

If you want to whooosh you have to do one thing: drink water. Lots of it. As you lose body fat your fat cells stubornly hold onto water to compensate; they do not like to shrink. To get them to let go of the water you must drink more water. Eventually they give up and whooooosh; you wake up 3 or 4 lbs lighter one morning. You didnt lose 3 or 4 lbs overnight, you've been losing it the whole time.

You can usually tell if you're in the midst of one; strong keto breath, very thirsty and you're in the bathroom a lot (like when you first started out LCing). It's important too that you get enough sleep so that the proccess can actually happen.

Talking Thanks!

Thanks alot! All the info helps a bunch! Just wanted to make sure that I was on the same track as everyone else! and not in a daze anymore! But I think if I drink anymore water than the 4 liters a day I am drinking now, I will float away! I already feel like this guy...

Cheers!
