Default Caffine Headaches.. too bad

I've been in induction for 3 days and I've had a bad headache.. I know it's from lack of caffine... I've been taking excedrine but it's not doing any good.. IB profen wont do anything. I had to leave work early b/c I couldn't see from my headache. My husband bought me a diet soda b/c he couldn't stand to see me in pain. My question to you all is, what's wrong with one can of diet soda a day. I believe I get my daily intake of water.. I'm not sure because I work outside and I drink from a fountain... Any suggestions??

I never gave up my coffee and still lost. I don't believe in being in pain that's so severe you can't work in the name of doing it "right".

My advice is to GRADUALLY wean off the caffeine if you really need to give it up.

I second what Potatofree says. I also never gave up coffee. I try not to drink as much now but going cold turkey would kill me.

I echo the posters above. I never gave up my coffee and I have been losing just fine for my taste.

I try and mix my coffee up a bit. Caffeine and decaffeinated. I try to take in less than before but I doubt I will ever break free from it completely.

I had to quit the coffee and tea, cause I wouldn't drink enough water , that's just me.. When I put coffee back on my menu I wouldn't choose water when I should have, lol. That's just me tho

I experienced the same types of headaches the last time I cut caffeine from my diet. It was unbearable at times, and since my job requires looking at a computer screen for most of the day, it was difficult to work. Part of the "addiction" is that coffee drinking can be habitual as well, cup of coffee with the morning paper, etc., and breaking the habit can be difficult as well. I was able to wean myself off of the coffee and caffeine by taking an occassional caffeine tablet, helped with the headaches and helped break the coffee habit. Drinking water also helps fill the void of not having a cup of coffee to drink.

I also had a bad, bad headache the first few days. I reduced to one can of Diet Coke during the day, and I would do half caffiene/half decaffeinated coffee if I needed coffee.

The important thing is to listen to your body. Cutting down might be what you need to do, instead of cutting out.

I didn't give up coffee, and it hasn't seemed to hurt anything. I do drink 2x as much water as coffee BEFORE I start drinking my 100oz a day... I'm thinking that should help.

Of course, I don't use cream or sweeteners in it, so I have less to worry about.
