Default Antibiotics, OTC pain meds and Atkins

Hi all

I can't seem to find any info on how antibiotics affect my low-carb?

My Dentist said that I should at the very least increase my carbs if I am not going of LC completely.

Then again I have had bad luck with doctors and I don't trust them too much.

Basically, I have a root canal that the filling fell out of and the tooth got re-infected (ouch!!!). Anyway I can't have the work done until this infection clears up mostly, so I am stuck with antibiotics (amoxicillin) and pain meds (2 advil, 1 tylenol every 6-8 hours).

Does anyone know how this will affect LC?

I know its more a question I should ask the Dr but I did leave a message ....they just take forever to get back with me. And I can't afford to see the Dr just to ask him that because I just blew my all the $ I had seeing the dentist & paying for meds since our health insurance got cut.

Anyway...any comments, suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Annett

Well I can only tell you when I was on biotics for a sinus infection I did not lose, but did not gain. I think when an infection is going on the body is fighting the infection and may tend to make us retain water. Just my theory, On the pain relievers I have horrible migranes have had several years. I take fiorcet and Norco (double vicodin) for the bad ones. They do not affect my weight loss, and I confirmed with pharmacy they should not. I hope you feel better.

Hi

Thanks for the info. I do feel a little better. I wasn't feeling too good at first but I made it a point to eat a little something whenever I take the meds and that seems to help. My carb count went up by a few because I am eating a little more, otherwise its seems to be going ok.
I have to go now, my daughter wants to go to the playground, so thanks again

Have a great day!
