Wink I hate introductions

[COLOR=Purple]My name is Lisa. I teach computers in an elementary school. I did the "High Energy" diet in 2002 and was quite successful until I shattered my right wrist while rollerblading. The "need" for comfort food kicked in. I've since gained all the weight back. My goal is to lose about 120 pounds.

The Atkins is much easier than the "High Energy." Many more food choices, no shakes I have to drink, etc. My DH and I are doing this together. My DS - 4 years old - will also benefit from not eating out so much!

I'll be browsing around the forum and checking out the recipes for sure![FONT=Tahoma]

Be seein' ya.

Hi Lisa, welcome. You've found a great place for support and information.

I teach computers also, but at the JH/HS level. Look forward to watching your progress!

Hi, Lisa! I agree your 4-year-old will likely benefit from you and your hubby's new way of eating. I have a 5-year-old son, and even though he still gets a good portion of higher-carb foods, he's loving eating the way we do now. Eating out can be so much fun sometimes, but I found we did it way too often. Still, it's a lot easier to eat on the run if you need to on LC than it is on a lot of other eating plans. We really enjoy Carl's Jr. (Hardee's back east) and their 'protein wrapped' burgers (burger in lettuce) when we're in town and just have to eat.

Anyhow, I'm going into rambling mode here--can you tell yet? Best of luck to you!

Welcome LIsa, by the way, exactly how did you shatter your wrist? Just curious, because I just started rollerbladeing and my DH is making wear a helmet because I obviously still need work on my balance!

My suggestion...along with a helmet, wear wrist guards. Gives your wrists a little bit more support if you fall. When you fall, you naturally try to stop yourslef by falling on your hands, then the shock results in broken wrists.
I can't say you never break a wrist wearing the guards, but it is better than nothing.
I use to roller blade alot before moving to the mountains. Now I don't have a place to do it.

Yep! It was without wrist guards. I thought "I'm just going to the grass. It won't hurt this once." My hand was actually sitting on the top of my wrist. I'm death on making my son wear guards now that is for sure.

I also am making my dd wear her pads, though she repeatedly says she knows how to skate, and she does.
However she doesnt have wrist pads, Ill have to het her some. I have a helmet, but no pads. Ill look around for some. Im sure Sports Authority has some. Again, welcome to the forum Lisa.
