Default Hi from Poughkeepsie

I'm not too far away from you...Dutchess county also. Have you found a good local source for low-carb foods? My HFS (Mother Earth) has a few; but not many or much variety. Would love to find a store that has stuff that isn't Slimfast or WeightWatchers.

not really...i know cvs and rite aid are starting to carrying carbolite candy, which is low carb. carbolite chocolate crisp candy bars are SO good-you really can't tell the difference from nestle crunch or any of those...
i've just been getting creative with what i cook. different chicken/meat dishes and all that...
i've found that advantage bars and shakes are really good (cookie dough and apple cinnamon are my fav bars)...but make sure you get the low carb kind cuz they have low carb and low cal.

Default I know I am REAL late!

Hi guys, I don't know if you still come to this spot but I live in Westchester County N.Y. I got so excited to see places I know and go every once and a while that I had to write. I have a bunch of pounds to lose and it ALWAYS helps to have a few buddies nearby to help you and for you to help them. So, I hope to meet some of you in Dutchess Couny.

Default Lake George Area

Hi Susann,
Yes, I know quite well where Diamond Point is - my husband and I live in Queensbury but have several friends who live on the lake. We docked our boat at the Sagamore this past summer but, unfortunately, were too busy to use it much.
Hubby and I both started the Atkins' diet around New Years. It is the second time for me, as I tried it 2-3 years ago, but without my husband's support at that time. The 3 months I was on it, I did lose weight, but when I quit, I put the pounds back on (and more!)
We are both determined this time, as we have health considerations now. (plus, not wanting to look in a mirror)
I go to the health store in Glens Falls for my cooking ingredients, but wish there was a store locally where I could buy the Atkins mixes.
I have a great site for GOOD recipies, if you're interested.

Barbara

Hello Barbara!
I am pretty sure the Hannaford in Queensbury carries Atkins bake mix and other Atkins products as well as GNC(is there a GNC in Aviation mall?) I know there is one in Saratoga if not.
Wishing you the best of luck with your new way of eating...
Lisa

PS That Hannaford also sell waist watchers diet soda sweetened with SPLENDA! Yay!

Default Thanks so much!!!

Hi -
Thanks very much for the info - I haven't shopped at either Hannaford here in years. ( since the Super K-Mart opened) I'm headed there today though! I've read that the Atkins Brownie Mix is excellent - just want a little something sweet after dinner.
My family spends a lot of time in Albany. Up until 2 months ago, my daughter worked for the NYS Senate. My son-in-law works at SUNY Albany as the Director of something or other- oops, forgot.
Love the Talbots outlet on Wolf Road, but haven't wanted to buy myself anything new till I lost weight - a lot of it.
Actually, I go by the size clothes I can wear - haven't weighed myself in years.
Anyway, sorry to babble on. Thanks again for the info.

Have a happy, healthy, NEW YEAR !!

Barbara

Hello Barbara,
Wow, I can't believe I finally have heard from some one up in this area! I was beginning to think I was all alone in the Adirondacks. Great to hear from you. How did you come accross this site?
I too have been up and down on Atkins. I lose rather slowly because I have a evening wine habit that I have found very difficult to give up. I always have a glass or two around 9 or 10 pm while I read or watch tv. Have been doing this for many years and don't know how to get to bed without it anymore. It has been my biggest challange and I know for sure it holds me back on losing weight. I also lost about 20 pounds since I started this WOE, but have since gained back 10 of those, I'm embarrassed to say (Holidays, Birthday, my Dad's death) Life as we know it!
I am trying to get back on track as I write this.
Anyway Welcome abord.... your gonna love this site!!!
Osuzana ( Susan)
