Default Why fat people have sweat pouring off them, and we’re cold all the time

“On average, a person spends about 10% of a meal’s total energy on TEF (thermic effect of food), but this varies considerably, depending on the composition of the meal. As the percentage of dietary carbohydrate
increases, the number of calories given off as body heat after a meal
increases. In contrast, as the fat in the diet increases, heat production
declines.”

Reed, GW and Hill, Jo. Measuring the Thermic Effects of Food, American
Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 63w 1996, pp 164 – 169

And there was me thinking it was just because I’d lost a thick layer of
insulating lard.

I was thinking the same thing, ws blaming the shrinking fat stores.... I have heard other people comment that they were warmer now, not me, freezing all the time.

Another thing to remember though is with body heat, it raises with metabolism for one. A big thing though is losing weight and improving lean mass means better circulation. Many times people with poor circulation have freezing cold extremities because the body can't heat them as well.

For some reason the quote up there makes me think they are saying we should have a high carb diet because more calories would be burned as heat and we'd lose weight more. Maybe I'm misreading it though.
