Default Communion Wafer

We attended a new church today and my mind started wandering during the sermon. I was wondering how many carbs are in a communion wafer

After the church, some of the members were telling us about special dinners the church does on Weds nights... of course, I had to find out what kind of food is served to make sure there are low carb options.

I absolutely love eating and living low carb... but sometimes I feel like I'm a member of a cult (a really good cult).

I have wondered the same thing. I had done atkins about 6 months ago and fell off the wagon and I had wondered about the wafer but more about the grape juice. It's so sweet. Every week we take communion and now I'm worried it will throw me off and I'll want a carb sunday lunch. Maybe prayer will help. =)

Sassy

There is another post about this somewhere, look up "Communion" Someone said that because it is such a small amount, they didn't go out of ketosis. I wouldn't worry about it.

We have little pieces of real bread and some sort of sweet cordial - its such tiny amounts it can't (and doesn't, I've taken it often now) do any harm, though I must admit I thought about it the first time I took communion after I started LCing (instead, of course, thinking about the things I should have been during communion - but I guess I've been forgiven!).

Interesting thread- there was an article a couple of years ago about a woman who left her church, catholic, as I recall because she was violently allergic to wheat, and they wouldn't substitute anything just for her. My pastor pointed out that they made bread out of all kinds of grains in bible times - the feeding of the 5000, remember, it was fish and barley loaves. So we don't honestly even know that the bread at the Last Supper was wheat-based. but for me, as with the others, the tiny amounts don't seem cause for worry.
