Default what about atkins without a gall bladder?

I had my gall bladder removed about 5 yrs. ago. Iv'e been on atkins 1 1/2 months with no problem. A few people, including one nurse have been telling me that a high fat diet is not good for someone with out a gall bladder to filter the fats.
Anyone know anything about this? thanks. flutterbye

Hey Flutter...

I had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago too. The only thing my doctor said to me about eating high fat foods & no gallbladder was that I might not be able to make it through a meal without having to rush off to the washroom! Sigh......this sometimes happens, but not very often and I have been following Atkins on & off (I hate admitting that...LOL!) for two years now. My doctor.....who by the way is not a fan of the Atkins WOE....says if I can live with the washroom bit....that is my only worry about fat.....but then she added her 2 cents and said.....if I'd cut out all of the fat.....I wouldn't have to worry at all.....arggggggggg.

I haven't had a gallbladder for almost 3 years. My doc recommended Atkins and said that it would take a little adjustment (bathroom wise), but that's it. That's all over with now-- unless I eat sugar alcohols, that is.

Just be sure and get enough fiber and things should stay in order. I figure if there was some adverse reaction or potential after-affects, my doc would have warned me or kept me off Atkins entirely.

HTH-
Nikki
