Default just noticed something...interesting

I have been purchasing the low carb treats and just noticed what I think might be a substantial difference between carb-options and advantage. My husband had thought that the carb-options bars looked good and wanted me to try them out, but first...I've decided that I prefer the advantage bars.

The interesting thing that I've noticed is that advantage doesnt seem to stall me, and after purchasing the carb-options bars...had noticed a stall. So when looking on the packaging, I found the following differences:

Carb options = 3 net carbs (1 g fiber)
Advantage = 2 net carbs (11 g fiber)

(mind you this is for the particular bars that I bought...the net carbs vary slightly depending on flavor)

Was curious as to wether the lack of fiber (hence presumably increased sugar alcohols) in carb-options caused the stalls. Just curious about other peoples thoughts and whether or not it's been noticed by anyone else.

What kind of sugar alcohols do they use? Malitol is metabolized around 50%.

Honestly, I dont know...probably wouldnt even know what to look for...but it was the difference in fiber that caught my eye. I guess I've determined that if I'm going to indulge in a treat...I'd rather it be 50% fiber carbs as opposed to under 5% fiber carbs. Just got my curiousity up.

Ladycody,
I agree with you on all bars are not created equal. Not only does the Advantage bar have the extra fiber, it has lots of added vitamins. I have never had any "bad" side effects from eatting the Advantage bars that often come with the other types that have a lot more of the sugar alcohols. Everyone is different, but the Atkins Advantage seems to do the best for me too.

I like the Advantage bars best of all the ones I've tried. They taste the best and are the most filling. After some experimentation, it takes an emergency for me to eat any other kind. Fiber might be one of the reasons.

Agreed on the Advantage bars. I am a poor planner and have had to resort to eating a LC bar on many an occasion, and the Advantage bars not only taste better, but I have found more satisfaction and less GI upset. I am sure that the higher fiber content has a lot to do with that.

Found a new product...well...new to me. MiniCarb hot cereal. They have plain and chocolate. I bought the chocolate which has 17 g carbs and 14 grams fiber. It recommends 4 packets of splenda (which I was unwilling to use because it would have upped total carbs to 8) but I tried it plain and yuck...then added a tsp of sugar free vanilla syrup and YUM! It's not actually very chocolatey at all though, which is just fine...I bought the chocolate one simply because I was worried about hating the plain and thought I'd have a better chance with the chocolate. It'll nice to have a hot cereal in the morning once in a while. It's VERY fibery, though, made with flax seed and such. Serving size is 1/2 cup...but I found that slightly less than that is plenty filling for me. Glad I tried the vanilla before I tossed the whole box in the trash (which was a temptation after trying it plain). (laughing)

I really enjoy the Advantage bars, for both emergency meals and reward snacks. I became a member at the GNC and you get a huge discount when you buy a box. They let you mix and match your box too which is the added bonus.
