Question Hunger Pains

Hi-
I was wondering if someone could give me some insight. I have been doing the LC for a week. At after reaching ketosis, I had NO hunger pains. Now, in the past 2 days I have felt a lot of hunger pains, and I know you arent supposed to. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I am staying on plan, and actually lost 5 pounds this week. Why am I feeling hunger?
Thanks,
Michelle

Hi there Michelle......

Are you eating ENOUGH? It's very easy for us to be under eating once we are settled in on LC. You could put your menus into FitDay.com to check that you are getting at least 10-12X your body weight in calories.

Hi SummerYet,

I noticed that on the second week, I was not nearly as hungry and started eating less. If this is the case with you, do you suppose you are (because of your lack of appetite) have now cut your food down too much and your body is telling you that you are still hungry?

If not, have you considered any emotional triggers or added stress?

Good luck

Talking Thanks!

Thanks so much Talon! That was thoughtful of you

I checked out fit day and it is AMAZING! Now I know why everyone goes there! I can't believe we are supposed to have so many calories...10 - 12x???!!! Is that for weight loss or maintenance? I am supposed to have 2500 calories minimum...I has about 2300 yesterday. Could that be enough to cause the hunger?

Today IS my birthday. I am giving myself permission to have one piece of my cake (small). In PP they say it is ok to have the occasional trip to the "honey tree"...does anyone think that it will be disasterous for me? I would like to hear your opinions...

Thanks!
~Michelle

Hi there Michelle.....

I'd like to join the gang and wish you a very Happy Birthday too!!

As for having a piece of cake......YMMV. Some people can manage sugar with no dire consequences. For other folks it's the straw that breaks the camel's back and it sets them off on a binge that is difficult to end.

Personally, my advice would be: Don't tempt fate! If you look in the recipe forum or the Low Carb Recipes in the orange bar at the top of the page, you will find several recipes for cheesecakes and such that you CAN have because they ARE LC!! That would be the way to go!

Good to see that you are getting about 2300 calories. The best way for us to be able to help you out here is for you to start a journal and record your menus. There may be something you are eating that is triggering insulin and yes, that will make you feel hungry.

All of the best on your special day!

Marlaine
