Question Green Tea, does it work?

Reading the thread on Green Tea & Green Tea extract. Which raises a question, now.
Those of you who have been taking and/or drinking Green Tea, has it made a significant difference in your weight loss?

Talking green tea

Yes! Green tea has helped me. I started my Atkins routine one month ago, and went through a terrible stall, loosing and gaining the same 3 pounds back and fourth. I was eating right and exercising daily.
I came here (Thank you Lord) and saw where several have busted a plateau on green tea. I got my whoosh and am now loosing as I have a daily glass.
The Selestial Seasoning is inexpensive, and I don't think it can hurt to try it.

Yes green tea works. I drink 6 cups a day, and it most certainly helps, plus I notice it really reduces hunger throughout the day.

Plus it is well proven in scientific literature.

Take it! Drink lots!

I looove green tea! I didn't even realize it helped people break stalls and stuff until today. But I drink some of it every day and in 15 days I've lost 17 pounds. Yesterday I had more than usual, 4 cups, and lost 1.5 pounds overnight. I don't know if it's the tea, or what. But I'll keep drinking it!

I don't drink green tea, but green tea extract is in my vitamin. Will I get the same benefits? If not, I have a box of green tea in my kitchen that I'll have to try.

I take capsule form Green Tea extract and it probably isn't as effective as the Green Tea in liquid form...

Actually, they say you need to drink at least 10 cups of green tea per day to get the health benefits out of it. I take the green tea extract capsules instead, and they've definitely helped me, though I also take them with l-carnitine and coQ10

Hi all,

Here is an excerpt from the Atkins web site regarding tea and weight loss

Snip:

Tea and Weight Loss?

There is some intriguing evidence to suggest that it could increase your metabolic rate and help speed up your weight loss a tiny bit. A 1999 study of 10 healthy young men showed that when they took capsules containing green tea extract, their energy expenditure increased more than when they took capsules containing caffeine or just sugar. In other words, the green tea extract made their metabolisms run faster and they burned more fat.10

The study is a small one, and it was done in the controlled setting of a metabolic laboratory, so the miracle cure for obesity still has not been found. What the study does show, however, is that it’s not the caffeine in tea that causes the metabolic increase. Researchers believe the effect comes from the high percentage of catechins in green tea.

Even if tea has only a very small effect on your metabolism, drinking it can help your weight-loss effort in other ways. A cup of hot tea along with a small protein snack is a great way to quench between-meal hunger pangs. In addition, a cup of tea about half an hour before mealtime can help suppress your appetite and make you less likely to overeat. And instead of dessert, try having a cup of lightly sweetened tea. To keep the carbs in your tea to a minimum, use a noncaloric sweetener and skip the milk.

Happy tea drinking !

Dusty
