Default New SlimFast Low carb Bars

Just picked up some Low carb bars from slim fast, called "succeed"

18g cards, 15 sugar alochols, 3g effective.

I guess slimfast realizes they need to cater to low carb dieters, since their standard bars are not that much different than regular candy bars in terms of sugar content.

I tried the banaa nut crunch, had a decent flavor,,, anyone else try these?

I do not have much good use for anything Slim Fast. I am convinced those HIGH 42g carbs per serving (2 servings per can) cans of garbage, helped me to not only gain weight, but increase my appetite. I'd be leary of it. Stick with the LC plans mentioned here on the board. Slim Fast is just trying to play the LC cash cow.

How much were they? It would be great if they were the same as the carb-filled bars! I love how low carb is becoming mainstream!

I am in Europe and all you can find here in the way of "diet" products are the Slim Fast products.....No wonder....Slim Fast is manufactured by Unilever...a DUTCH company. I recently read an article discussing that Unilever is really upset with the whole Low Carb "revolution"...they are losing MAJOR amounts of money on their diet line (Slim Fast). So, someone was right when they said Unilever is trying to cash in on Low Carb. They still have their foothold here.........nobody has heard of Atkins here apparetly...you cannot buy a SINGLE low carb product marketed for that purpose.....but it is only a matter of time before it sweeps Europe too!!! My advice? Leave SlimFast and Unilever in the DUST...or more accurately, on the shelf. If they were interested in the latest health of consumers, they would take that high carb crap off the shelves they market as a "Healthy Alternative and a Meal Replacement". I always tell my patients on Slim Fast that a can of sugar laden gunk is not a "healthy" alternative and that there is no "replacement" for good nutrition!!!!

Good luck to all!

Char

Default SlimFast is going low carb

Anyone see these yet? They're making low carb bars with 2 net carbs now lol. Guess they're losing business.

I don't know if I'd trust eating their low carb products. Maybe if they came out with a Cookie Dough bar similiar to their high carb/low fat one, I'll try it. I used to live off those during my SlimFast days lol.

I tend to look at SlimFast as one of the final nails in my health-related coffin...

They can make a zero carb bar for all I care; I still wouldn't touch their products with a ten foot pole! So long as their products are driven 100% by profit and 0% by a genuine wish to help people be slim and healthy, they're bad news in my books...

Ohhhh don't mention cookie dough, Slim! What my (half American) fiance thought he was doing introducing me to the wonderful world of cookie dough just before I went on the diet, I'll never know...!

I looked at those, and they are mostly sugar alcohol. 15g in a 120 calorie bar. That's a very, very high proportion. And only 6g of protein and 1g of fiber. Yikes!

I tried one. I was okay. I personally will stick with my balance bars and zoneperfect bars.

Yep. I saw these in Wal Mart. While they're a bit less than half the price of an Atkins bar, they're also a bit less than half the size. I don't trust their calculations, and there isn't much in these bars, from my comparison reading.

I'll stick with what I have already -- the only "different" flavor is Banana Nut, and I don't like banana anyway!

Half the size of the regular bars, sickeningly sweet, and about a buck for a bar so small it's gone in three bites... I'll pass from now on, but I just HAD to try one.
