Default Glycemix Index and Ketosis - Is there a relationship?

After several weeks, I am still in ketosis, although the variety of foods is getting monotonous. I know the solution is trying lots of recipes and getting really creative - but I have very little time at this point in my life to spend on creative cookery.

I am thinking of upping my carb count a little - would it be of any help to consume the extra carbs in the form of low glycemic index foods?

Is there a relationship between the glycemic index and ketosis - or is the overall carb count really the only thing that matters?

Thanks! Terri

As a matter of fact....Yes indeed it has something to do with it.

The higher the GI factor of foods the more impact they have on your insulin levels. More insulin equates to less fat burning and more fat storage.

So the lower impacting foods will keep the insulin levels low so fat burning can take place.

Good question

I might add you still need to watch the carb limit.

I have to agree here. My blood levels are usually wonderful if I'm in ketosis. Thank goodness my Dr. was on the ball regarding starchy/sugary carbs and insuline fluctuation.
