Default Glycerine question....

I have posted this before, but I am trying again to see if anyone has additional information on Glycerine.

I eat the sugar-free Popsicle pops which list 3 carb grams each, which appear to be attributable to Glycerine. Does anybody know how these carbs should be counted? Are they like sugar alcohols? Does Glycerine have any known or supposed negative side effects? Headache, stomach upset etc? (Sometimes I feel like when I eat too many of them, it disturbs my sleep.)

Thanks.

I found this:

Although glycerin (as well as fiber and sugar alcohols) is a carbohydrate, it has a different metabolic effect on the body. Unlike typical carbohydrates, glycerin and the other components have minimal impact on blood sugar levels.

I guess everyone is a bit difference. I discovered I can't do much of Splenda. It affects me like maltitol. I can do Sweet n Low without any adverse affects.

Maybe the sleep thing is just a quirk. I could drink a pot of coffee and fall right to sleep. A glass of tea and I'm up half the night.

Sheez.

Hi Shirley,

Thanks for the info. I stay away from maltitol since my stomach can't deal with it; and I wonder if Glycerine affects the stomach as well. The sleep thing is strange, but I had a couple of restless and dream-filled nights, and the only thing I could think of was the glycerin(e?). I have to believe it is better not to have it than to have it; but I love those popsicles!

Michael

p.s. Thanks for the words of encouragement on the photos.
