I'm on Atenolol too. It is frustrating to think that something so important for our health could also be hindering weight loss.
I know that I was on Atkins for 5 months and only lost 15 lbs...(All in the 1st 3 weeks...then nothing) but, all my blood work was so improved and I felt better too. But, stupidly, I went off it...regained the 15 plus 5 more. I'm back on it again and hopefully will stick with it!
I'm hoping if I can lose enough I can start cutting back on the medication and eventually go off it. My problem is the fast heart beat....something other BP medications don't address..so my Dr. won't just switch me. But she said she'd work with me....So, we'll see.
Maybe it won't have a big effect on your weight loss...hopefully, it won't.
It seems to be the only thing I can find to blame my low weight loss...since I really did stick to all the rules...but, I'm over 50 ...and have yo-yo-ed dieted since I was 30....So, there's probably lots of reasons......I've just got to stick with this WOE forever, if I can!
But for goodness sakes, don't just stop taking it! That could have disastrous results! Hang in there! It may come off slower...maybe not. But, you'll feel better!
