I have seemed to notice that ever since I started this way of life, (from a low fat, high carb), I have been breaking out horribly. I this because of all the fat in my diet now, or is that a myth too? Could I just be paranoid?

Default myth

Fat intake shouldn't affect breakouts. They're proven sugar and chocolate don't affect pimples. Are you drinking enough water?

Hi Karrahs,

Nope, you're not the least bit paranoid. If you search here on "pimples" or "acne" you'll find others have had the same problem (while others find their skin clears up - go figure!).

It's not about the fat you are eating, but about the fat you are losing. As our fat cells shrink, oestrogen is released (also why some folk find TOM changes) and can cause breakouts.

The good news is that as your body gets used to this way of eating, your skin will settle down. And you'll be slimmer and healthier, too, of course!

It's your body adjusting - I broke out horribly and then it all cleared up and now my skin looks better than it ever has - my TOM changed as well and is now back to normality. Don't worry.

Default go see a dermatologist

Just to be safe you might just want to go to the dermatologist if you can, just to maybe stop the problem before you get too much scarring damage. Last spring, for some weird reason, I started getting terrible breakouts . I was almost 22 and had never had bad skin, even during my teens, so it was totally weird and frustrating to start breaking out like I did . I finally went to the dermatologist, and it turned out that I had acne, so I had to go on a couple different kinds of prescriptions and eventually it cleared up completely . But I really wish that I had gone sooner, just so that it could've been taken care of sooner. I don't care if you are fat or skinny, nobody wants bad skin, so get it checked out, it might not have anything to do with your diet.
