Question Atkins Pancake and waffle mix

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if the Atkins pancake mix is any good? I purchased it and don't know when I can use it or if I even should. I'm about to begin week 2 of induction and am in no rush but curious as to the taste because I heard the bake mix is really bad and I have that too and have never used it. Does it taste pretty good or is there something better out there? I'm just a big breakfast type of person and pancakes were usually on my table every sunday morning. This was a sad Sunday!!! Help! Please let me know.... Thanks!

I like it very much, but would not use it during induction.

Default Not too bad, but...

I like breakfast faire, too, and I often used the Atkins pancake mix until I came across a recipe for Oatmeal Pancakes from South Beach Diet that I doctored to lower the carbs even more.

1/4 Cup Oat Bran (Recipe had called for rolled oats)
1/4 Cottage Cheese
2 Eggs
Vanilla, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg to taste

Puree this mixture in food processor until smooth and make pancakes! Much superior to the Atkins mix.

I like them. Add some butter and a good maple syrup and it's a good change from eggs!

I think the pancake and waffle mix is great! I made a waffle with it this morning. I use Cary sugar free syrup and yum!!!! I can't tell the difference between it and the regular stuff.

I recently tried the Atkins Nutritionals - Quick Cuisine Deluxe Buttermilk Pancake / Waffle Mix. This one has twice as many carbs per serving ~ 8g, so I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad. I didn't care for them at all. The look, smell, and texture was excellent. The initial first bite seemed promising, too. Then I noticed an off taste--- an almost rancid quality. Well, about half way through the small stack I had made, I couldn't go any further. On a positive note, the Sorbee zero sugar syrup was pretty darn good.

Default Good Syrups

Yeah, there are a lot of great syrups on the market. I like Log Cabin, myself, and my wife and daughter have not even noticed the change!

Thank you guys, I figured I'd get mixed responses since everyone has different tastes. I found that new mock french toast on these forums and enjoyed it. So I might just forget about the mix , I'm afraid I wont like it. I'll use Skinny Jim's recipe when I get tired of the french toast. Thanks Jim!!!!!

As for the syrups, Im using Vermont SF and my DH and kids didn't even notice. Hehehehe

Thanks again!
