Hi, I was just surfing through this site and saw your question about the Reddy Whip Light in a can, I am a newbie as well, just joined today and have asked the same question in the forum and am awaiting my reply, if you hear anything please let me know. I have been doing the low carb diet for just over 1 week now and have dropped around 10 lbs (probably water weight but I am happy anyway). Nice chatting with you. V

Well, the problem with whipped cream in a can is that it is sweetened a little bit... and the nutrition label is probably for a serving of 2 TBSP. Who eats only 2 TBSP of whipped cream??

The fitday counts for 1/2 cup of canned whipped cream are:

Amount Per 0.5 cup
Calories 77.19
Calories from Fat 59.99
Total Fat 6.67g 10%
Total Carbohydrate 3.75g 1%
Dietary Fiber 0g 0%
Protein 0.96g 2%

So the answer depend on how strictly you are following the plan, because it does contain sugar, but not very much.

For those who are familiar with Byrne Dairy, they have canned whipped cream with NO added sugar. It does say sweetened on the can, but the ingredients list is cream only. So... I emailed the company and asked about it. The woman who answered assured me there was no sweetener in it, but made from sweet cream and that's the only explanation she could give me for why the word sweetened is on the label. Anyway, I buy it and have had to adverse affects from it. It's one of those things I do when i have a hunger but no time to eat... squirt a mouthful in and let it melt, yum.... will hold me over until i have time to eat.

Default Cool Whip

Cool Whip extra creamy states 2 carbs for 2 tablespoons...which is a healthy dollop of the stuff . I like to put on my strawberries for a snack. No adverse affects so far with my blood glucose..

The problem with Cool whip is that, if you want to adopt a healthier life-style, it contains partially hydrogenated trans fatty acids...the only bad kind of fats!
