Low Carb Options for Travelers

Hotels Make Eating Low Carb Easier Than Ever

Americans are trying harder than ever to lead a healthier lifestyle; research shows that up to 32 million people are trying to cut down on carbs. But all that hard work is easily undone by travel. Whether on the road for business or pleasure, hotel life doesn't make it easy to stick to diet plans. Sheraton hotels are about to change that -- offering their first low carb menu.

Menu choices will include a protein packed omelet, Mediterranean Garlic Chicken, a bun-less hamburger, seared Norwegian salmon, grilled sirloin, the No-Chip Dip and a crust-less cheesecake. They're even offering low carb cocktail and beer options and a low carb "To Go Snack Bag" to take on the run.

Nutritional experts agree that if you're going to cut the carbs, you need to stay on track, because a low carb diet changes your metabolism. Now, with choices that let you eat high-protein, low carb for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's easier than ever to stay in shape while you're on the road.

The menus won't just apply to their American hotels, you'll be able to sink your teeth into their low carb cuisine, including a signature low carb mint on your pillow, at any Sheraton around the world.

I wish Hampton Inn would get on the band wagon regarding low carb. Their "free" breakfast does not include anything low carb (except for tea or coffee). The entire breakfast is a carbo nightmare - icky cereals, sweet rolls, bagels, biscuits, juices. We did stay at one several years ago that had boiled egss but haven't seen that lately. How can they be so out of touch?
