Default random question

Hey All,

Has anyone noticed that heavy cream has a rather disgusting taste? I LOVE half and half (I could seriously drink the stuff), and was very excited to try heavy cream and fruit. When I tasted it, though, I wanted to spit it right out. It had this awful kind of bitter taste. Is this normal for heavy cream? Even when I added sweetner and whipped it up, it was still repulsive.

Does anyone else find this, or did I get a bad batch of cream (it didn't make me sick or anything)?

I personally don't care for straight heavy cream thus I use half-n-half in my coffee. I think it has a slightly "bitter" taste...but I like the creaminess...

I've recently noticed (thanks to this board) that the heavy cream I buy has additives. Maybe that is what you're tasting????

Heavy cream should NOT have a bitter taste. It can be a bit "heavy" for some folks because it is extremely high in fat. I like it but restrict my intake because it happens to make me stall if I use to much. I make sure I read the carton before I buy it to watch out for preservatives/chemical additives. I pretty much know which brand I can buy at which store and get pure cream. If you have doubts try buying organic cream from a health food store - it should be pure cream.

I avoid half & half due to the sugar issue and I'm a sugar-holic so I need to avoid sugar at all costs or get cravings.

i don't like the heavy cream very much but it is the slimy texture it leaves in my mouth that does it for me.

I use heavy cream to make icecream and it turns out great. But I did notice that the last carto I bought had a lot of additives and will not buy that kind again.

Heavy cream straight doesn't really do it for me... if I want something over LC granola or cereal I would perfer the half and half... But for anything else cream is fine. I love cream in my herbal tea with some davinci SF syrup.

I love it. It's probably the one food I have to be really careful with, because I can easily use too much. I love heavy-cream lattes from Starbucks, or just coffee and cream, or the cream plain. Or in a shake. I haven't tried the berries yet because I'm not at that level of atkins, but I'm really looking forward to it...

I have never noticed a bitter aftertaste of Heavy cream... i would say you possibly got a bad batch or one with some other "stuff" added in...

I use it for everything... i even make sf pudding with it... but i dillute it with water.. makes it thinner... so it's not so heavy tasting...
