Question Has anyone found a leakproof way to transport oil & vinegar dressing?

I'm having a heck of a time with the oil and viengar dressing I take for my lunchtime salad. No matter what type of container I take the dressing mix in, the oil finds a way to seep out under the seal. I've tried various Tupperware and Tupperware look alikes, baby food jars, and small mason jars with no luck. The containers don't leak for anything else, just oil and vinegar dressing.

Has anyone found something leak proof?

Cool

Hi Angela,
I use old screw-top tablet bottles for mine.
So far I've had no problems although I always stick it in a separate plastic bag just in case!
I'll be interested to see if someone has an even better solution.
Cheers.

Freeze it in ice cube trays and tuck it under your salad. It should be thawed in time for lunch!

Default Might work

This works for small amounts of oils or vinegars.

Go to any camera shop where they develop film. Ask for their extra plastic film canisters, the white ones, not the blackones with the gray top. The white ones you can almost see through but not quite, those lids pop off, but only with alot of effort.

Try one or two of those.

I also collect these little useful FREE canisters from camera shops for carrying pills, coins, fiber powder and all kinds of small amounts of creams, meds and rings while traveling. It's my best life improving tip.

small freezer ziplock bags work too/double bag it - but they are expensive and take up more space in your purse.

I use empty film containers, well washed before use of course and have never had them leak. HTH Karni

Thanks for the tips. I'll try them the next time I travel.

In the mean time, I found a pretty simple, common sense way to deal with it. I now have a whole bottle of olive oil, and a whole bottle of vinegar in my desk drawer, along with my favorite spice mixture. I mix the O&V fresh at my desk, an a small container, and wash it out after lunch.

Thanks again!

Another idea ... I use old spice jars or the replacement spice jars for spice racks. I think I bought a set of 8 for around $5.00 at Target.

Default Don't know if it's true or not, but......

I've heard that the plastic film canisters can absorb some of the chemicals from the film and should NEVER be used for food.

Default Plastic wrap under the lid

My sister and I were just talking about this this weekend. She puts it into a regular small container (one of those 1/2 cup containers) and covers it with plastic wrap, then puts the lid on top of that. She says it works great.

I was going to suggest Tupperware midgies (those tiny tupperware containers) but if you have already tried this . . .
Are you sure it was sealed? I have never had anything leak from one of these little gems. Glad you found something that works for you

I put my salad dressing in a zip lock back and then tuck the bag into my salad bowl with lid on top. Then at lunch I just cut a corner off the bag and pour or squeeze the dressing out!
