Sugar vs artificial sweeteners
This is an interesting article about a study that compared the effects of eating sugar with using artificial sweeteners. The findings were that eating sugar causes an increase in appetite and a greater intake of calories, that sugar causes an increase in body fat rather than any effect on lean body mass, and that sugar seems to specifically raise both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Well, we already knew that sugar was a bad guy, didn’t we? I’m interest though in this finding that sugar seemed to increase hunger while artificial sweeteners decreased hunger and caloric intake.
