Default should I up my goal?

Ok, just went to mybodycomp.com and it says my LMB (lean body mass) is 187 lbs. my goal is 170 lbs. Should I go ahead and change my goal or wait it out. what I am afraid of is my LBM dropping as I lose weight (since my body doesn't have to carry around so much weight ALL the time is should lose a little LBM right?). last time I was at 170 was when I was 17.

Hi Silverfang,

First of all, yes, it is inevitable that you will lose a little LBM (lean body mass) as you shrink. That doesn't necessarily mean you are going to lose loads of muscle, but you simply won't need that much "lean weight" to support the extra fat which you are losing.

I'm not sure how you came up with an LBM of 187. Lean body mass is simply your current weight minus your BF (body fat). LBM is not just muscle, it is also bones, organs, all of you that isn't fat.
And as your current weight is listed as 254, with a body fat of 30%, that would give you an LBM of 178.

I guess the quick answer to your question is that 170 is an extremely healthy weight for a 6 foot tall person, assuming that you are not doing a lot of work with weights. 170 would give you a BMI (body mass index) of 23.1 - smack in the healthy range.
I should mention here that BMI is not so accurate if you are doing a lot of weight lifting and have built up a lot of muscle. In that case you may well wind up with a heavier goal. I would simply wait and see.
