Smile Any buddy need a buddy

Hi
I have been doing this WOL since the summer of 2001 and I lost some good inches and weight right away....

But, last summer I also went into a long stall that had to do with a number of things---age, thyroid stuff, and being kind of isolated in what I was doing.

I went off my rocker during this last fall and spring with the carbs while I was starting a new job and making other life stressing changes. I am very serious about getting real again. I would love to have a mutual crying, laughing, and discussion partner on line to talk to about progress, et al.

I am 53 yrs old, a woman and a college teacher. None of that may matter since I like people and am interested in the myriad things that make up our lives.

I do a combination of Atkins and Protein Power and now have some experience under my belt...enough to know I should start again from scratch to examine my habits again. I have some posts on this forum--check them out to see some of my history, frustrations, et al.

Many good thoughts to all of you this a.m.
Anybody need a buddy?

Default buddy up?

I started Atkins about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and managed to resist a major family gathering full of everything a bakery chef with lots of fugar and flour and imagination could create. Lost a few pounds...am stalled and stubborn and constipated at the moment. I'm in my 50's, going through many life changes. I'd love to just exchange stories with a few people...I get overwhelmed with huge message boards and hundreds of postings. Dinner tonight? Tuna salad made w mayo and egg and a bit of onion. I'm not hungry most of the time, but my favorite snack so far is a mushroom stuffed w sharp cheddar cheese and nuked til it bubbles..

Default Hi!

Hi I am glad you two responded! Yes, we all have something in common--wanting to make this work!

I am doing pretty good--for a couple of days I have been really clean even if I haven't went back to boot camp yet (smile).

I will start posting what I eat if anyone is interested. I am always on the run and eating is haphazard for me. Yikes, what more excuses will I think of!

MKA--I've been there with the constipation stuff. It will be better if you drink lots of water and eat good amounts of greens. Lots of people eat just protein and forget we can do greens and the amount of carbs in most of them are minimal anyway--so want to have everything flowing again-drink water and eat greens. I like your snack--thats one of my favorites too. I am just eating lots of chicken right now, mostly chicken wings and salad...thats my kick right now.
Hi to you too Menaz--you look like you have a life on the run too as a manager and a full time student. I am a teacher but I do research too and so I am kind of always doing something. I live with my daughter and her husband in Seattle and they do pasta!
And both are skinny.

I am at about 190 lbs again but I can still fit into the clothes I wore last summer so I haven't given up the battle ! Thats half of it and I really like to eat this way.

Hope we all can stay in contact. I am so happy you responded and will be looking forward to talking more. Maybe we can figure out a way to keep ourselves motivated,

di

Default Hello

Hi all of you fellow low carbers...Its great to see new faces!!! May I make a sugestion?? You each should start a journal so you will have a "homebase" so people could come vist you and we can all offer support....that way I can pop in and say hello.

I am doing CAD but have sucessfully done Atkins. I am a 30 year old mother of a 5 year old son Aj who is autistic and a active 2 year old daughter named Hannah. I am also a RN and work 44 hours a week night shift at a Indian Hospital in the mountains of Arizona

Feel free to stop by my journal and say hello anytime

Default Thanks for the tip

Thanks Becca--

Thanks for dropping in on us. I asked for some buddies here to share... and we had just met. I have a journal but I decided to post for some people to join me in forming a support group--which I hope we can do. Anyone is welcome to ck out my journal too. I have some history on this site, so I welcome people to read prior posts so they know what I have tried before.

I had a pretty good day--all around.

many good thoughts.

Default hmmm

Dear folks:

Well to be honest I am not sure this is working for me. I am too busy to be very interactive here and it doesn't look like anyone is really that interested in visiting me either. Its not a bad rap on this group--its just one of those situations where you know you might not really get what you actually need. Not every key fits all keyholes and I can figure something else out.

I am trying to do low carb more faithfully once more--I have been at it overall now for a couple of years with less success than I had hoped--but it hasn't been all bad. I initially lost weight and I have kept that weight off for the most part. Once I really made that initial change over in fuel source (from carbs to fat) I found that I can't stray very far before I begin to feel ill-- so the incentive has been that. Unfortunately, I just do not lose weight anymore.

I will drop off the list now and take care of business and find another way to find support. I wish all of you the best in your experience with low-carbing!
