Default Fitday and NET carbs... 'doh!

I'm glad I realized this before I got past day 3 of induction....I've been putting my food intake into fitday and thought I was doing great, until I realized I was only looking at total carbs! I wasn't subtracting the fiber content and getting to NET carbs!

Which actually works out great for me because I know I can have more veggies later in the day.

A question however....sometimes when eating 2 c. salad and 1 c. other veggies (all from the acceptable veggie list for induction), I still won't reach 20 net carbs for the day ( this includes carbs from all other sources added in, although there aren't many during induction). So...is it more important to get close to the 20 net carbs by possibly eating 2 c. of other veggies, or is it more important to only eat exactly as described even if you end up with way less than 20 g carbs for the day?

I too am not always able to get in 20 net carbs a day either , but have found that if I vary the amount of carbs I have daily I do much better.

For example -

on induction your looking at 20 carbs a day, that comes to 140 carbs total in a week.

Monday - 10 carbs
Tuesday - 15 carbs
Wednesday 15 carbs
Thursday - 20 carbs
Friday - 10 carbs
Saturday - 35 carbs
Sunday - 30 carbs

this leaves an extra 5 left over that I save for "just in case" (like lunches out with my co-workers)

For the higher carb days I add in tomatoes, onions, a lc tortilla - these bring your carb count way up AND give you the variety you need to keep from getting bored with your menus. Also you have some elbow room for going out or for those days you just can't seem to get full.
