Default flaxseeds ground in a pepper grinder???

I don't want to buy a coffee grinder. Since I'm only using 2 TBs at a time couldn't I use a pepper grinder? Has anyone used one with flaxseeds??
thanx

Well, I always use a coffee grinder, but I don't see why you can't use a pepper grinder, but expect your pieces to be a bit bigger, is all.

Way to get that fiber in!

Pretty sure the only problem you're likely to get is that ground flax goes rancid quite quickly and needs to be kept in the fridge... if you're doing it in a pepper grinder you might find that you have some whole and some partially cracked flaxseeds left in the chamber, which could go bad.

Depends wether you're talking about keeping it in there all the time or just measuring what you want, putting it in the grinder, grinding, then emptying any leftovers out like you'd do in a coffee grinder.

The oil from flax seeds would gum up the works pretty quickly Your pepper mill would be permanently ruined.

Coffee/spice grinders are quite inexpensive ... and very versatile. I also use mine for grinding spices (eg cumin, mustard, coriander seeds .. etc) which taste so much fresher than pre-ground. To clean, just buzz a Tbsp of long-grain rice till it's powdered .. this absorbs any oils and residue. Dump that out, then wipe with a dry paper towel.

hth,

Do you have a blender or food processor?
That usually works.
