Default Feeling a difference already

Since I started LCing on May 12, 2004 I've lost a total of 14 lbs (*without*
torturing myself BTW which I cannot say about any other diet I've tried). I
haven't yet seen a visible difference (but with all the weight I have to lose, I
didn't expect to yet) but I have FELT a difference.

a. My feet used to be so swollen that people thought I was diabetic (I'm not,
I've been tested). I'm happy to say that after 17 days on this new WOL
that the swelling is GONE and my shoes are no longer tight!

b. My wedding ring and engagement ring are loosening up!

c. Used to be that when I would walk up to Walmart with my kids (about 1/4
of a mile) my back and hip would be hurting so bad halfway there that I'd
have to stop for a breather. Not ONLY did I make it all the way there
without a break but there was NO PAIN!

I'm drinking 100+ oz of water everyday and not eating anything after 9pm
(I typically go to bed around midnite). My carb intake is generally under 30g
per day and fats take up 50 - 60% of my daily food intake. I haven't had a
drop of regular soda since I started and I haven't even had a diet soda in
over a week!

Cheers to all!

Cynthia

BTW -- I found a recipe for no-ice-cream-maker and no-freezer low carb ice
cream that is TO DIE FOR! less than 5g of carbs per 1/2 cup serving. If
anybody wants it, I'll be happy to post the recipe.

That sounds really great LcMamaInFL. It's exciting to be able to do things that you haven't been able to do in a long time. It's nice that your swelling symptoms have gone also, I'm so glad for you keep up the good work.

I know what you mean. Within the first 3 weeks I no longer felt sort of breath, my back aches have really improved, and much to my Husband's delight, I quit snoring! I'm sleeping better, and feel sooooooooooo good! Here's to all of us who are doing our best!

Hi Cynthia and Welcome to the TDC. One of the things that amazed me when I first started is that I never had that hungry or dissatisfied feeling. I've tried many low fat and low cal diets and always felt hungry but not now. This way of eating is great and it works.

14 pounds is a significant loss and a great start toward your goal! Congratulations on that and the health benefits you already feel.

Default Hugs to you all for the support!

I am SO glad I stumbled across this forum -- especially the TDC section.

Even though I don't *see* a difference, I love *feeling* a difference. My
husband is even looking at me differently these days -- maybe because he
sees that I am really trying to take care of myself instead of letting myself
go to pot.

I have 2 mini goals:

1. 350lbs by July 31
2. 300lbs by Dec 25

My weight loss has slowed somewhat -- the first week it seemed like I was
going down a pound or two a day (and then there was that heavenly whoosh
day when I lost 3.5 lbs overnight) but I know some of that might be water.
I have been losing about 1/2 lb / day steadily over the last couple days, so
as long as that holds, I'm happy. That's approximately 10lbs / month.

Slow and steady wins the race afterall, eh?

Hugs and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

Cynthia
