Unhappy Help.....?

Hi

I have now been on the Atkins diet for 6 days and lost absolutely nothing?

Is this usual?

I've followed the diet religiously....to no avail.

Any advice?

If you are female and it is close to your period - yep it is possible.

Without knowing what you are eating, it would be hard to say. You might be eating some things that you think are low carb but aren't - or you could also be eating more saltier foods and that causes water retention.

Give us a typical days menu for you and we will be glad to advise you.

Actually...my period started 2 days into the diet....so that could be it (hopefully).

A typical day would consist of

Breakfast

Boiled egg or a piece of chedder cheese

Lunch

Tuna omelette with cheese and onion

Dinner

Grilled Chicken and salad
or
steak and fried tomatoes
or
gammon (or bacon), sausage and fried egg

Thanks so much for your help!!

Add more fat and calories. You might be starving yourself.

Question re: Fried Tomatoes

Hi Jinx,

If you wouldn't mind sharing, what method do you use to fry your tomatoes?

Thanks much,

Taken all your advice....just eaten 2 very large flame grilled burgers with side salad, a packet of pork rind followed by a bowl of jelly and fresh cream...very nice

By Jelly do you mean Gelitin or fruit spred?

If Gelitin just watch out for asperteme in the sugar free. Fruit spred is high carb, unless you get LC kind.

There isn't a limit to the meat (which is nice because I LU-HU-HUV steak).
It's the carbs and sugars that you need to watch.

I can relate to the boyfriend thing, except it's my husband. He doesn't understand and I just let him do his thing while I do mine. If he loses me in the house, he knows that he can find me in this forum.

Sorry....forgot you're all mainly American....I meant Gelitin (sugar free)

On the same subject...I am travelling from the UK to Florida in August for a 2 week holiday...I understand the USA have several low carb restaurants...does anyone know of any in Florida?

Failing that...I intend to eat lobster for 2 weeks!

I don't know about an LC specific resteraunt. I know if I hit Florida I would eat seafood 24/7. Read through the Atkins book on which are low in carbs. Generaly fish are good, but soem shell fish do have carbs. You will peobably also be able to order grilled items and side orders of steamed broccoli. I think they also have great produce down there, so salads should be great.

Have you checked our Yellow Pages (at the right side of the screen)?
