Default Appetite & weight loss/gain connection?

Hey!
Does anyone have experience with a sudden increase in appetite? I'm on day 19. I did 2 weeks induction pretty darn to a T (exception 2 oz coffee each morning). This week I'm still 20 carbs or less per day (due to SO joining me). Up until today I had NO appetite and had to work to get my calories/fat/pro up. First week I was lucky if I got 800 calories/day. Suddenly today I'm starving. I've been stuck at the office and swamped with work so I haven't indulged in any real eating. I haven't lost any weight since Sunday, in fact, I put on 2 lbs on Tuesday.

Any ideas why the weight gain and sudden increase in appetite? No its not TOM. Since surgery last year I don't have that to worry about.

Thanks for any input!

Are you in Ketosis? Ketosis will curb your appetite a great deal.
As for the weight gain, are you eating salty or high sodium foods? Could it be water retention? Are you drinking enough water through out the day?
Also if you have recently added exercise you could be building muscle which weighs more then fat. Do you measure? Have you lost inches?

Randi
I don't use the strips so I couldn't tell you if they would say I'm in ketosis. That was my concern that I might not be any longer. Though I don't think I've done anything to knock myself out of ketosis.??? I keep track of everything in my fitday.
My Fitday
Maybe someone could explain to me if I have knocked myself out of ketosis what I did?

Hi,

appetite often comes back after induction. From my experience there is only one thing you can do - EAT! Eat legal foods, get lots of protein and fat, don't go hungry. Don't worry, as long as you eat legal stuff you will continue to lose, but remember - we can't lose every day. Sometimes not even every week. Trust the plan.

Best of luck!

Alina

Oh, I don't think that's it at all I've seen it posted many times (and it is true in my case) that when you get that "starving all the time" feeling where you want to eat even after you just ate, its a sign of an impending whoosh! Don't feed it too much...just stick to what you are doing and keep us posted if this is what it was

This happened to me over the past few days also. I have been on the plan a little longer with slow but steady weight loss, averaging .5 to 1 lb. a week, but the last two days I have been really hungry. I added "legal" snacks, and this morning I woke up to a 2 lb loss. I have read about this many times, and have to agree, it seems to be a signal that a "whoosh" is coming.

I've been hungrier the past few days. I've wondered if I did something to restore cravings, for example by having Thai food (only protein and lettuce) last Sunday.

Thanks for your replies and words of encouragement.
I'll feed it and stick to legal foods and see how it goes.

I've been starving the last few days and I finally broke a stall with a two pound loss, so hopefully you have a whoosh coming!
