Question 18g of Carbs by Mid Morning??

Hello, went to Fitday.com today and recorded what I have had so far today for breakfast. It seems that I have already comsumed the 18g of carbs out of the 20g that I am entitled to during Induction. Been on it for approx 3 weeks (tomorrow) and haven't really lost much, I am no beginning to realise that I am obviously comsuming far too many carbs a day therefore hendering my weight loss. This is what I usually have in a day:

3 x scrambled eggs cooked in butter = 7 carbs (made from dry eggs?? what are dry eggs anyways, I use your normal chicken eggs)
2 x italian or pork sausages cooked in butter = 0 carbs
1/2 x an avocado (black skin) = 6 carbs
1 x handfull of shredded parmagian cheese = 1 carb
1 x Decaf coffee with splenda = 3 carbs

TOTAL = 18 carbs so far.

I usually have for lunch 1 x soda with splenda = 3.5 carbs, 1 x ceaser salad & crab meat and shrimp salad = guessing about 15 carbs and I don't even want to go on to dinner now! Arghhhhh am I doing my carb count right?

No...you are not figuring your carbs correctly. First of all one large chicken egg has only about .6 carbs in it. Also, are you subtracting fiber? Carb count should be total carbs minus fiber. Go back to fitday and put in the right kind of eggs, then subtract the fiber from the total carbs. You'll get a much different result.

There are only 2 net carbs in 1/2 an avocado too, like Freckles said, be sure to subtract the fiber.

Thanks for your replies so far! *big relief* I was going by the 'totals' on fitday. So, correct me if I am wrong, I should deduct what ever amount in the fiber column to get a more accurate count on carbs consumed?. Now that makes more sense. Excuse my ignorace though but what are 'dry eggs'? I could not find a listing for just normal eggs...crambled.

Thanx

I was looking at fitday.com as well, and it said that an egg white had approx 2.3 carbs in it?? i thought it was like .3. There was no dietary fiber to subtract... what's the deal?

A dry egg, in the cooking world, means cooked with nothing added, no oil or butter.

Sounds like everyone's got you on the right track now! Just wanted to add that in the middle chart on your food for the day it will show the total Carbs and directly below it the Fiber. Just subtract the fiber and that's your true carb count. Fitday is great, but it takes a bit of getting used too!

Good luck!
