A friend of mine told me today that I should not lose any more weight or I will be too thin. I disagree, I want to lose another 7 pounds.

Caveman,

I would think that "too skinny" would depend on your height. What is your height and your BMI? If your BMI is less than about 19 he might be right. But if your BMI is higher than that there wouldn't be any harm in lowering it to the bottom of the healthy range.

Here is a BMI calculator http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bminojs.htm

And congratulations on your success!

Joan

I don't consider the BMI as useful as it does not take %body fat into account. It is not appropriate for males with some muscle mass. I estimate at my goal weight of 205 my %body fat will be about 14% which is in the optimal range. Irrespective of what my goal weight should be, I am just happy that someone told me that "she thought I was thin enough".

Get your Body Fat tested and then shoot for what you think a healthy percentage is. Your right in most of those charts based on height are only the average and way off for some of us, female included. I wouldn't go by the scale because if you are adding muscle through body building you may be losing the body fat without losing weight. If it gets to a point the only way to get to goal is to lose lean mass, I would raise the goal

As close as you are instead of focusing on losing weight, focus on toning and tightening. Find tiem for both cardio and strength training and you will probably have great results, even without the scale moving.
