Default What is a good percentage of weight loss over a period of a year??

I'm calling on the experts here!!

I need to know what is a healthy amount of weight to loose over a one year period?

Please share with me!! Thanx!!

Hi Liz,

Well I have to start with the disclaimer that our metabolisms are all different so we will all lose at different rates.

But as a general rule, on low carb you can expect to lose 10% of the weight you need to lose in the first two weeks, followed by 5% a month after that. So, using that measure, someone with 100 lbs to lose can expect to lose around 60 to 65 pounds in a year. It's certainly not an exact science though. Things like medications can affect weight loss. And men always seem to lose much faster than women.
And of course, that guideline assumes no cheating.
