Default Ode to the Scale

A poem.....by me

Ahem

Ode to the scale

Ode to the scale

Oh the power I have given you throughout all these years
The power to make me happy
The power to bring on tears
I have let my self esteem rest in what you say
I have lived through what your numbers say
Each and every day
I have measured my own worth
On a numbers and some metal
Never knowing that your calculations
Could be so detremental
Although you measure what I weigh
It has taken me time to learn
That those are only numbers
And that’s not a concern
What matters is how I feel
It's not about my weight
It's time I forget about numbers
Before it gets too late
My soul and personality
They don't weigh a thing
And that just goes to prove
That weight is NOT everything

By the way...I hate the scale...can you tell???

Shelly

Default I love your Poem

And its sooooo very true for those (ahem... the old me) people who work really hard (diet and excercising) to loose weight, and then look to the scale for validation, and when it dosent come we pin our self worth on it.

I think you really captured the frustration and the obsession of the scale to a tee!

I think your poem was a work of art but it is too late for me. I am addicted to the scale and I don't even want to kick.
