Question Since on Atkins I have oily skin...does anyone else?

Since about a week after starting Induction, my face has become oily.

Is anyone else having this problem or related too?

Is this normal and will it go away. I hate oily skin.

Thanks,

Lily

My face is very clear since starting Atkins. In fact, since starting Atkins I've found that I can't wash my face with abrasive soaps and most times, just using a wash cloth with hot/warm water is enough to clean my face.

I haven't used any type of soap on my face for about 6 days now, and it's clear and not oily.

It could be all of the water I'm drinking, too.

My face gets quite shiny in the afternoon now too, now that you mention it......I don't like it at all either, I mentioned it to another girl I work with, she said I look "dewey".....I am interested in whether the dewey look goes away too.

I was prone to occasional breakouts, and red patches on my cheeks, and both have gone away since Atkins.
There is a lot of hormonal and other things going on, I understand there is a shakeup period for a lot of people, but then your skin looks wonderful. Most people report better looking skin all around once their body settles.
It did work that way for me.

I wish I was oiler! I used to have really oily skin--never got completely over the acne part of my life until I was around 40. Then all of a sudden, like overnight, my skin started being more normal. Now normal skin isn't bad, and I don't miss the zits, but the problem is with my hair! As it was, I could only wash my hair every other day vs. every day because too much oil stripped out left it a mess. Now, if I even try to wash it every other day it just becomes a fly-away staticky mess, and that's WITH conditioner.

I have also noticed my daughter's compexions are much better since starting Atkins.

Ok now this is really weird you mentioned this. I just noticed today that my skin is oilier. BUT, I have noticed that my skin is very clear and I have gotten several compliments this week on my complexion!

I'm diffently oily on my face and my hair seems to be getting oily again, like it was when I was much younger. Now my arms and hands which had alot of freckles and what I call Liver Spots, are clearly fading. I thought it was due to all of the Vit C and other vits that I'm now taking.
I clearly feel so much better physically now than I have in a loooooong time.

My face seems to be a bit oilier, I am not sure if it is because of the induction or b/c I just got another Depo shot, (which tends to throw my complextion into weird days).

Thanks for all the responses this helps alot. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

I have no zits, just oily skin. I have notices a better complexion just a tad on the shiny side.

Oh well, nothing makeup can't fix right?

Take care,

Lily

I think as long as you're not breaking out, it's a good thing. It's probably preventing wrinkles!

Do you wear glasses by any chance? My problem is that I will get the oil on my hands and then push up my glasses or scratch my nose, transfering the oil there.

Since starting Atkins my skin has greatly improved. I still don't like eating some fatty meats as they leave that oily feeling on my face. I also use Nutragena skin clearing makeup which helps.

Remember not to overscrub your face or use soap to clean it when it feels oily. That will dry it out and your skin will start producing more oil to compensate and make the problem much worse. Just clean it in shower in morning and to take makeup off at night. If you have problems in between get bloating cloths and apply light layer of a non-oily makeup.

I don't wear glasses. I like Kristines theory about prevetning wrinkles. I will have to look into the blotting clothes and see if they work.
